"On Oct. 13, 1492, Columbus described his first meeting with Native Americans: “They do not bear arms and do not know them. They would make fine slaves.” He seized men as hostages and women as sexual companions. When proposing a second voyage, he promised the Spanish monarchs, “as much gold as they needed and as many slaves as they asked.” In Haiti, Columbus ordered all natives older than 14 to deliver a hawk’s bell of gold every three months or have their hands cut off. Under Columbus, soldiers tested their swords on natives’ backs and beheaded children for sport. By 1494, over 125,000 natives had died, mostly from forced labor."
Where ever they set foot, they stole Native souls, lands, wealth.
