Hindus forgot the real reason behind constructing Temples. The main reason is to bring devotees together and allow them to work for the community. Some how we lost the meaning of real reason, and build buildings, install countless murthy, dress them every day, spend money on flowers and other items, pay interest on the loans taken to construct building.
Devotees (Caste Hindus) come to visit the Temple at their own convenient time, cautiously look around, stare into the blank faces of other devotees, half heartedly put "one Namaskaar" to the main murthy, make one circle around main murthy, sit there for few minutes, and leave the temple. This is what you experience in any Temple. Where is the interaction? Where is the discussion on issues facing by the community? Where is the leadership? Where is the plan of action for the betterment of the community? Where are the resolution to unite all Hindus irrespective of Castes? Where is solution for Caste hatred? Where are the resolutions for curing maladies that accumulated over time?
Where are the social doctors(not medical)? Where are the social psychiatrists (not medical)? Where are the advisers (elderly)? Where are the guides (elderly)? Where are religious leaders? Why we have no vigorous religious discussions? Why we fail to address the problems in the faith? Why there are no cures for social evils? Where are the programs to help poor, illiterate, children, elderly and women?

Neopagans who understand that something is missing make up for it by borrowing heavily from the living traditions of Asia. Thus, neo-Druids such as the "Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids" have imported a lot of Hindu-Buddhist lore into their curriculum as a substitute for the unknown and irretrievable doctrines which the ancient Druids must have taught. To some extent, this is historically justified because European and Asian Pagan traditions did have certain doctrines in common. For example, the belief in reincarnation is well-attested by Greco-Roman observers of the Druidic tradition, in Virgil's Aeneid and other European Pagan sources.
So, either way, neo-Pagans trying to supply the innermost teachings to a tradition of which folklore and scanty surviving texts have only preserved a skeleton, have no choice but to look to surviving traditions like Hinduism.
Hindus should welcome the revival of the pre-Christian religions of the West, often cognate religions through the common Indo-European origins, otherwise at least typologically related religions which are not based on a monopolistic prophet or scripture. At the same time, they should be watchful for impure motives and degenerative trends, or for phenomena which may be acceptable in a multicultural framework but with which they need not involve themselves. The ancestral religions of Europe are at present in a formative stage, a stage of groping in the dark, of gradual rediscovery or self-reconstitution. At this stage they attract people with a variety of motives and divergent levels of knowledge and understanding. Still immature, these religions often look to Hinduism for guidance.

The Christian church taught for many centuries that all of the Jews in 1st century Palestine were responsible for deicide -- the execution of Jesus. Further, they taught that each successive generation of Jews shared equal responsibility with their ancestors. Almost all denominations abandoned this belief by 1965.
In the 10th century, Christian Crusaders systematically exterminated uncounted thousands of Jews on their way to and from the Holy Land.
In 1492, Spanish Jews were given the option of converting to Christianity or being expelled from their own country.
The Spanish Inquisition was established, in part, to ferret out any former Jews that had not sincerely converted.
The predominately Christian American colonies frequently denied Jews the right to hold public office.
Pogroms (organized persecution and massacre of Jews) in Czarist Russia and in eastern Europe resulted in the deaths of countless thousands of Jews.
During the Nazi Holocaust of World War II, approximately 6 million Jews were exterminated by citizens of various European countries; the vast majority of the murderers considered themselves to be Christians; all were volunteers. There is a general consensus that the Holocaust could not have happened without centuries of Christian anti-Jewish teachings.
Anti-semitic attacks on individual Jews, their property, cemeteries and synagogues continue today worldwide, and are increasing in frequency.
Many religions have had a difficult time tolerating other faiths. This is particularly true with Christianity in western Europe. Two of the worse examples of inter-religious hatred and persecution have been:
Anti-Semitic teachings and prosecutions over many centuries which directly caused the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent Jews. They indirectly laid the foundation for the Nazi holocaust and the loss of 6 million Jewish lives.
A religious genocide conducted during the 15th to 18th centuries. Tens of thousands of innocent people who were believed to be Witches or other heretics, were located, tortured, and burned alive. (After the Reformation, Protestants continued the Witch hunt, but they preferred to hang the innocent victims rather than burn them alive.)
Religiously motivated wars, genocides, and civil unrest continue today, largely among Christians, Muslims and Jews. There is a critical need for both international, national, and local agencies that promote Christian-Muslim-Jewish cooperation and understanding. They are notable by their near absence.
In the U.S. there have been attempts by Congressional leaders and conservative Christian groups to terminate the religious freedoms of some non-Christians in the military.
