World population and Resource imbalance?

The rapidly growing world population is putting tremendous strain on World resources. How we can balance the equation. The West is living 50 times higher standard of living then a third world country. How it is possible?. They looted our (your) wealth during the 600 years of Colonization.

So how can we bring the equation to balance. Should we bring the standards of West down to our standards? or should we raise our standards to that of the West? If we have to raise our standards, then we have to colonize West for next 1000 years.

Is Socialism a solution? Or communists are a solution? or what else?
